The Django Web Framework has reached the awaited 1.0 release, as planned.
After three years of deveolpment, since the very first beginnings, and after founding the Django Software Foundation, now Django has the first stable version ready to download.
The realease notes is a rich features list, making Django a high class framework ....as it always has been ;-) .
Between the others, here's brief a list of what's new, that captured my attention:
...and many others of course.
Although all the Django users has been using the framework while being developed, and thus being always checking and managing the backward-incompatible updates, now we have a API stability guide which is not just a promise. Personally i've been following the development, and never had problems updating the framework since Django is the most and well documented one.
Updating from a previous development version to the 1.0 stable, is documented here, and the backward-incompatibility doc page is not missing.
Something that always made Django excellent is its documentation effort and the new documentation even if not completely full is clear and, most of all, free ...as always.
Get Django 1.0 at the download page and read how to install it ...if you didn't already ;-) .
I imagine what a big and enthusiast feasts the release party and the DjangoCon will be ... |
